Lew & Estella

A number sign that looks like two people sitting on a bench.

I was working on the number sign for the font I’ve been creating and the first permutation of it looked liked two people sitting on a park bench.

This Font Is Terrible

It’s called ‘Calender’ and it’s my second attempt at a font. The first I abandoned, but if you were one of the two people I told about it, this new font follows a similar vein of inspiration. My goal in ‘Calender’ was to have every character be composed within a five by six grid. There are exceptions for sure, ‘N’ ‘$,’ but most fit in their little box just fine. It’s titled ‘Calender’ because I intended to use it to make a huge calender for myself for 2010, but here we are almost to mid-February. Story. Of. My. Life.

The font is not kerned yet, or rather, the kerning classes I used aren’t sticking correctly to the built font and not all the characters are done yet. I’m putting together the font in FontForge and making the glyphs in Inkscape. I’m releasing it under the SIL Open Font License for the one person who cares about its licensing. Tell me what you think.
